Single Sign On

In previous IE browser versions  6 to 9, no Logon Prompt was displayed but now in newer versions the Login Prompt is displayed for the user to enter the Windows User and Password details.  Sharperlight has no control over this as these are standards implemented by the Browsers but these is a workaround.

 

 

The Logon Prompting makes sense if the user is not on the Domain and is accessing the URL site externally but if they are indeed on the domain intranet then IE 10 and 11 now requires you list the URL address of the Server in the local Intranet zone under Internet Options

 

Steps required to remove the logon Prompt in IE 10 and IE 11 are as follows

 

Add the URL address to the Local Intranet Sites in IE Internet Options / Security / Site Button / Advanced Button / Add Button

 

For example http://mySharperlightSerever

 

 

Once this is done then the User Logon Prompt will go away for this speicified URL base address and your Windows Account will automatically be passed through to Sharperlight.

 

 

With regards to Windows User Groups, Sharperlight will automatically find the first matching Windows Group your account belongs too in Site Setup.    If you are Prompted, it is because you are outside the Domain but you can still login with your normal Windows Account details because Sharperlight will match your User Account with a Windows Group. If the User Account is listed in Site Setup in it’s own right then is used over any Windows Group matches.

 

 

In closing also make sure the Sharperlight Service Authentication Property is set to NTML
