Introduction

This post explains that a comma-delimited list can be used as a data source for a query.

Practices

Open Query Builder. You can access it from the Sharperlight Application Menu, or by clicking the Edit Query button on a published report, etc.

Once Query Builder is opened, select System as Product.

Then select Custom Defined Dataset as Table

Create a comma-delimited list to Define Dataset filter value, or paste the following comma-delimited list to Define Dataset filter value.

As soon as the filter value is filled with the comma-delimited list, it is evaluated, and the column names are displayed in the Selection pane.

Now we can add all selectable columns to the Outputs pane.

Let’s preview it. The data is returned from the comma-delimited list.

Afterword

This is useful when you need static data for certain reasons, or when you require a sample dataset for testing the layout of a report, etc.
