Sharperlight – Scheduler
This video covers the basics of using Sharperlight Scheduler. It starts with scheduling Reports generated based on Page Designer, Excel and Word. These reports are then emailed out to various email addresses associated with a Query of Companies. Other tasks show how to export data from an Application database to CSV files and also the reserve, where CSV and Excel files are imported into a database with validation. The is also an example of how to pass parameters and trigger a Task from an Web Page using some simple Javascript.

Excel and Word Setup on App Server
- Use Network Drives so App Server and Client can see the same file paths
- Set the Sharperlight Windows Service to Run As a specified Windows User
- Remote Desktop into the App Server as the specified Windows User and setup the Excel add-in
- Disconnect from the Remote Desktop Session leaving the User logged on (Important as Excel needs an Active Desktop)
- Create a Scheduled Excel Task on a Client Computer

- Set the Location to [Server]
- Use the Current User
- Do not turn on “Run whether user is logged on or not” as Excel needs a logon
- Create an Action to Save Excel to the network drive location
- Set logging History to All
- Set the Trigger time for a few minutes in the future
- Click the Apply button to save the Task
- At the Scheduled time check the network path to see if the Excel workbook has been saved
- Check the Task History Log see the details on executed Task
